Hawaiian Food: Definitely More Than Pineapples [PHOTOS]
During our stay in Honolulu, the mixture of culture blew me away, especially how immigrants totally influenced the region with their food. The diverse cuisine history of settlement and immigration in all Hawaiian Islands can be seen in every corner of Honolulu.
Korea, Philippines, China and Portugal brought their own traditions making the whole Hawaiian culinary experience, simply surreal.
On this trip, my friends and me asked some locals about their favorite restaurants and markets. The first person we asked, mentioned her preferred option for breakfast and we definitely took her advice.

We were starving, so we ran all the way to 1831 on Ala Moana Blvd following the recommendation. Got there around 10:30 AM and put our names on a list and waited 15 minutes to be seated. One of my friends asked for some coffee and some fast appetizer we could have ASAP. We selected the Acai Bowl to start and definitely loved it.

Guys! This ultimate healthy dish must be one of your first choices during your next trip to Oahu. In our case we went for the one with raw honey, cinnamon infused granola, yogurt, banana, mango and pineapple.
For our entrees we got local dishes like the traditional beef “Loco Moco” and the “Local Vegetables Bibimbap.”

We loved this place so much that we returned two days after (on a Wednesday) and order some more stuff like this delicious fried rice with bacon and corn: out of this world!
On Thursday we found a tiny place called Aloha Cafe and our server Ashanti recommended her favorites entrees including their signature Loco Moco and a delicious tuna salad.
Later that day we went to try the popular malasadas, Portuguese expression to donuts, at Leonard's Bakery. I absolutely loved these donuts, specially their texture... very different.

On our last day, we went to the cultural presentation: “Germaine’s Luau.” We ate from a large buffet while watching their dancers giving us an outstanding traditional performance.
